The Albanian Muslim Society of Toronto (AMST) has officially completed the purchase of its new Albanian Mosque & Cultural Centre in Etobicoke, marking a major milestone after years of planning, fundraising and community support.

The new centre is located at 124–126 Queens Plate Drive in Etobicoke. In an April 2026 project update, AMST said the property had a purchase price of $5.5 million, with $3.7 million already secured and an additional $2.5 million being raised to complete the purchase and meet closing requirements.
On August 26, the society announced that the purchase had been completed. AMST thanked families and individuals who donated to the campaign, as well as community members who provided interest-free loans. The announcement confirms that the financial milestone needed to close the purchase was successfully reached.
AMST’s current fundraising tracker lists an overall goal of $6.7 million CAD, with $4.5 million in total cash deposits and $2.2 million still required. This means the mosque purchase has been secured, while fundraising continues toward the broader project budget.

The approximately 10,000-square-foot property is already zoned for use as a place of worship and is intended to provide more room for prayers, Islamic education, youth programs, community gatherings and Albanian cultural activities.
AMST says a Contractor Management Committee will oversee the planning, design and renovation of the new facility. Daily prayers, Friday prayers and regular programming will continue at the current mosque at 564 Annette Street while the new site is prepared.
The society’s goal is to officially open the new Albanian Mosque & Cultural Centre by the beginning of Ramadan 2027, God willing.
Founded in 1957, the Albanian Muslim Society of Toronto has served generations of Albanian Muslims in the GTA. The organization says its membership has grown to more than 2,300 people, creating the need for a larger space that can support worshippers, students, families and future community programs.
The completed purchase represents one of the largest community projects in AMST’s history and gives the organization a permanent foundation for its next chapter.
More information is available in the official AMST purchase announcement and the society’s project update.
